I did it! I made my first skirt. An A-Line skirt. I purchased the Amy Butler Barcelona Skirt pattern a few weeks back when I found this adorable fabric store in Southwest Little Rock. The fabric is by Amy Butler as well. I love the greens in the fabric.
It is lined with muslin which makes it a bit heavy. Perfect for fall or spring weather. I think it hangs nicely. I had a bunch of trouble with the stinking invisible zipper! Mine isn't very invisible!!! I tried re-doing it 3 times....but ripping out a zipper is the most frustrating thing! I would rather pull out my hair!
I'm pleased overall with the way it came together. I will wear it with pride!

I'm trying to talk my boyfriend into getting me one! So pretty and a wonderful reminder of how precious life is and to remember that you must always respect your health!

I am immensely impressed with your completed project! I've been seriously considering dusting off my sewing machine and getting into making skirts for my baby girl and myself. I think you've just helped me make that decision!
That pic of your daughter is amazing. Beautiful girls!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today.

Great skirt!! You look great in it too!! Can I just say, you don't look old enough to have 2 adult children!! I should know...I don't look old enough to have a Freshman in college either:-)
Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you come back soon:-)
Girl, that is gorgeous. I can't even see that zipper!
From a girl who doesn't even own a sewing machine...I am so impressed with women like you who can create something beautiful out of a piece of fabric.
And you look freakin' fabulous!
Wow amazing job!! Your daughters are beautiful too (they're probably around my age :) )

Hey I think its great that the zipper is not invisible...I wont have any trouble finding it when I need to unzip you....Looks great on you or maybe its you that looks good in it. Its both. Love you babe, have a great day....John
P.S. I found my Fontina cheese at a fancy dancy store we have here called Sendicks. It is an imported cheese so, you might have to go to a specialty market. In a pinch, you can use Swiss. Get the nuttiest you can find:-)
it looks great! i'm too afraid to sew clothing for myself!

Great job!!! I'm totally impressed you messed with an invisible zipper!! I'm a professional seamstress and I run screaming from those darn things!
Good for you!! I can't sew for anything. Wish I had learned and maybe still will. I think it's so amazing to be able to make something for yourself :)
