Summer is coming to an end.
I have sooo much to do still. I have been spending the past 10 days with my baby sister and her family who are in town from New Hampshire. I have so much to blog about but I haven't had time to sit at the computer long enough to load the photos and write the commentary.
School starts on Wednesday.
I am no longer a special ed school bus driver. I have 2 schools...1 elementary and then the middle school I work at....a total of 67 children. Totally different then the 6 kids I've had over the past 18 years!!! I have a route that happens to be one of the three worse routes in the district. It is in a pretty rough neighborhood. Oh, my bus is freaking twice the size as my last one! That really doesn't bother me....what bothers me is it's OLD, filthy, the seats are torn, there is writing ALL in the inside......when I told the head mechanic about this he said, Oh yeah, well it'll only get worse with those kids.............great!!!!!
I'll be laying down the rules before they exit the bus Wednesday morning!
I'm actually looking forward to this new journey! I feel like this is the route I am supposed to have because maybe one of those precious darlings needs me! Some of those kids parents are NEVER home and some live in dilapidated houses with 3 other families.
So I am off to go "try" to clean the nasty bus as best I can. Then I need to go to the school....I'm swapping classroom so moving all that furniture will be my workout for the day. Maybe I should do the school first 'cause the bus is gonna make me feel gross!

You are crazy for taking on that bus route, but I believe in you!! You will be fine... once the bus is clean. Now that's funny, your more worried about the bus not being clean then you are about the neighborhood you need to drive the bus into! Hmmm, you wouldn't catch me anywhere near there!! I'm too chicken!!
First of all, Betty, I am so proud of you for reaching your weight loss goal! That is AWESOME and you look AMAZING! You should be very proud of all you've accomplished!
I will say a prayer for you that this school year goes well for you. Hopefully, you'll be blessed with a good bunch of kids. Try not to become consumed with all the "what ifs" and just take things one step at a time.
Betty, I firmly believe that God has his plan and you are exactly were he intends you to be. Having said that I wish you the best of luck and a lot of patience!!!
If anyone can make a difference in the lives of those kids it's you!
I hope this school year isn't as bad as it sounds!
I absolutly believe that this was put in your path for a reason Betty!
God knew you were the one for the job. How exciting:)
Good luck with it, it sounds like a challenge but it also sounds like you're up for it!
I agree with the other Betty; your attitude is wonderful, and it will work wonders with those kids knowing you actually want to be there with them.
I hope it turns out to be a positive experience!
I have so much respect for school bus drivers - such a challenging job! My girls like school but hate the "loud stinky bus". It makes me so happy to think that maybe there's a bus driver around here taking the time to insure that their ride to school will be as safe and pleasant as possible the way you are taking the time to insure that for your students.
Oh wow that sounds like quite the challenge. Good luck!
good luck with everything, mrs. betty!
you're right, maybe one of those kids needs a mrs. betty in their life! :)
I have an award for you on my page!
Speak softly and carry a big stick...oh wait, they might frown on that. You just show those kids who's boss, Betty!
How was your first day back?!
I have been thinking about you and how bad of a bloggy buddy I have been!
CONGRATS on reaching your goal weight! What a great accomplishment! Doesn't matter how long it took, you did it!
when you said that this was the route you were supposed to be on for one of those kids, that just melted my heart... that right htere shows me that you are on the right route and God knows it too...
My grandma drives school bus too and when the kids get really out of control she'll turn on Polka music and blasts it through the bus....putting a stop to the craziness! :)
