John had to work a mandatory mid-shift the night before his birthday. So I got up that morning and decorated the tree out front with black streamers, black balloons and the "Lordy Lordy John is 40" sign I made a few days before.
He pulled up and I was waiting outside with the camera....he gave me the appropriate response that I knew John would give. HA! I made him stand in front of it so I could get a picture before the wind messed it up.
Every chance I got I would make some crack about him being my "old man". All in good fun of course....my time is coming.....soon. yikes!
After he had his nap, we got ready and headed up to the girls home in Conway. We went and celebrated by having dinner at Mike's Place.
Me & my Old Man! Who doesn't look 40!!!
Reading the card that Tori & Meg made for him. It was hilarious!!! For his birthday they are taking him out on a Daddy/Daughter date to dinner and shopping for some new clothes for him!
Front of card!
After the restaurant we all went back to the girls house for cake. Meg & Tori made John a homemade Peanut Butter Banana Ice Cream Cake! OH YUM!!!
John's parents, John & my mom watching the girls put the candles on the cake. They wanted to do the numbers 40 but could only find a 4.....so they went with just a few candles. They made a 40 in the middle of the cake out of jimmies or sprinkles as some call them.
Couldn't have to many candles....it would have melted the cake!
John with his parents, Brad & Nell.
With his babies....the girls who gave him all that Grey in his beard. I absolutely adore this photo!! I am going to have to print and frame this one...maybe on a canvas.
My love. I hope your 40th birthday was wonderful!

You´re right. He doesn´t look it.
I´m glad you had a good birthday for him.
Love the black balloons and the sign on the tree.
I´ve been wondering the split shifts for a while now. What kind of work/job does John do?
Mr. John DOES NOT look like he's 40! & omg- that card is awesome! Tori & Meg did a great job.
Love ya!
I love the black balloons in the tree! He may have told you that he didn't want a big hoopla for his birthday, but you can't convince me that he didn't enjoy every single second of it! He looks great for his age! :)
That looks like such a great birthday! I see where he gets his young looks from...his parents are adorable!
That is a sweet picture of you and him at the end....Happy Birthday John!!
Cute pics!!
My favorite part is that you said "after his nap"...hahaha! Old man!
You're right, he doesn't look 40!
Wow...that cake sounds delicious!! I might have to get the recipe.
I love the pic of him with the girls and the two of you!
I love that your family is so close!!
Happy Birthday to John! It looks like a fun time!
Love the card Tori & Meg made!
I love it. The black balloons, the sign, the handmade birthday card from your girls...great stuff!
Happy birthday to your old man! He doesn't look 40!
What a great day. He doesn't look 40 (until he put the glasses on, lol). My hubby is 43 and just had to get reading glasses. They make him look old.
Belated birthday greetings to your hubby and ~ WOW ~ what a beautiful family - all of you!
Definitely NOT a 40 year old lookin' man! Time has been good to him. Heck. The both of you for that matter!!
Looks like a great birthday celebration. That picture of him and the girls is just gorgeous!
Y'all are gorgeous! EXCELLENT Genes!! Happy Birthday to John.
