Baby Blush

My neighbor had a baby girl 6 weeks ago. I crocheted her an afghan. The colors are baby blush with a border of mint.

This particular afghan took longer than usual(3 weeks). Not only did it require a smaller hook than I like to use but it's summer time.....I'm usually out enjoying the day!

I finished it and went over to her house yesterday to give it to her. She loved it!!

It's weird for me for awhile after I give someone an afghan that I have spent so many hours working on. I was trying to explain this to John. First, I decided on a pattern....then it's off to the store to find the perfect yarn. I spend countless hours tediously working on the afghan. I am very meticulous about it and don't hesitate to rip out and start over if needed. The afghan becomes a part of me as I crochet and see it grow and it starts to warm me the longer it gets. It makes me happy to make something so special for someone.....but I always get a tad sad when I don't have it to pick up and work on anymore.

It's beautiful Betty! I have a special blanket that each of the children recieved as babies made from various people. I will always remember them because of those gorgeous soft blankets. And my kids have spent many nights comforted by something that was so lovingly made for them. How sweet!

That's amazing! Good job! And that seems to be the newest theme colors for nurseries-pink and green.

It looks really beautiful and I bet it´s just as soft! Perfect for a baby gift.
So I guess you should start something new so that your hands have something to "pick up" again...

That is so pretty and what a great gift for that new baby girl.
I'm sure you do get attached to the projects.
After the process of conception to completion you can't help but be attached to it. Kind of like your baby.

You are so talented. The afghan is lovely. I can identify with how you feel when you begin thinking about doing an afghan project. I go through the same thing when I decide to do landscaping. I have the idea of what I want to create. Then I buy the plants, install them and watch them take shape as a colorful part of the yard. It really makes me sad to have to move away from my creation and turn it over to a total stranger to make choices to do whatever with something I have birthed. As I wrote this, it came to mind perhaps that is how God feels about us as his creations. He gives us life and then sets us free to make our own choices...Nell
