Momma Cat & Crew

Meet Momma Cat!

I saw Momma Cat first a couple of weeks ago. She came out of the woods behind my house and meowed at me as if she were hungry. She looked real scrawny & weak. So, me being the sucker for any stray animal, I gave her a scoop full of food.

The day before we left for vacation we noticed momma cat had brought two friends with her. We could only see their legs and couldn't tell how big they were because they were half up inside under John's car.(does that make sense?) I told John I thought they were very young. Sure enough they ran out and they are just babies. Approximately 3-4 months old.

So we knew they would go through the kitty door and get in the garage and eat on Ben's food while we were gone. We have had several strays do that.....some even sleep in there all winter long.

We arrived home from Georgia and low and behold there weren't 2 babies but 4 on my back porch!!! Meg & Tori were all about them....they started filling up bowls of water & bowls of food. The cats started chowing down like there was no tomorrow.

They have grown on John & I.

We have now named them. Meet the babies...

Oddball

Splotch (on left) & Phantom....Phantom is John's favotite

Double Stuff.....Double Stuff always runs off. He/she is the only one that runs & hides when we walk out the door. This photo was taken through the window. And there is Oddball nursing.

Oh yea, Momma Cat still nurses all 4 of them!!! They are almost as big as her! Know wonder why she was so skinny, all her nutrition was going to the babies.

Oddball is always nursing! I see he/she nurse at least 5 times a day.

So, I have wondered if Oddball is actually Momma Cats baby?....None of them look like Momma Cat...except they all have her green eyes. There is a stray all black male that has adopted the family 2 acres down....I wonder if he is the daddy?! Two little boys from that family told me that they saw the babies and Momma Cat down the street (about 4 acres down) over a month ago. They told me she had 5 then and one was brown and black. That baby obviously didn't make it. Makes me sad.

I don't think Momma Cat is a wild cat. She was too comfortable when she came up to me the first time. She lets me get pretty close and soon I think she will let me pet her. I think someone dropped her and the kittens off when they were first born. Who knows....I just know that I had to feed them....I can't stand to see starving animals.

They have made themselves quite comfortable on our back porch. It is their domain now!

Cats know how to obtain food without labor, shelter without confinement, and love without penalties.

Aww...beautiful cats! You, John, and your girls have such good hearts for taking care of them! I, too, can't bear the thought or sight of animals starving. So very sad! You've earned a Medal of Honor in my book!

I guess they are now your cats....
That's nice of you to feed them...

Demi Lovato is from Disney channel. Like Hannah Montana but not as big. 12 year olds love her...

Good on you for taking in the strays. That is how it started with Cat Cat. I just couldn't not feed him in 14 degree weather. I do hope to be able to have him neutered in the near future. I hope you will do the same with your tribe or you will soon be overrun. Nell

Welcome to the family~lol.

You now have a houseful of cats, Betty!

Poor Mama cat is so busy feeding everyone, she herself is starving. Those babies are too big to still be nursing.

How sweet to take them in. I would just be sure to get them spayed even if you keep them as outside strays. It's so sad how many homeless littleguys we have out there, and winter will be here before we know it;(

That is so nice of you to take care of them and to share your back porch with them. They are all too cute for words. They are so lucky to have found you!

What a wonderful kitty MoMo: still nursing her youtes! I breast fed my daughter until she was fourteen and a half, I think (and, honest to God, I don’t look tribal!). Well. Maybe not that long, but as long as we could. We had to abruptly stop when she was almost three and came down with a serious case of coxsackie. Difficult time, back then. We felt like a sad Disney film: she was Dumbo and I was the trunked-mom in circus lock-up.... ***shakes off faraway look*** I could use some therapy, huh? LOL! Yep– Mama Cat does La Leche League proud! She could be their post child. Better yet, ME! LOLouder! You and your family are so kind to have taken these fur people in under your wings. Happy Meow Trails!

You shouldn't have to worry about those moles in your yard now, right?

HEY! GUESS WHAT! Momma Cat (Apologies: I spelled her name wrong in my above post!) looks like she might be related to the kit-kat featured in Sassy's sidebar! CHECK IT OUT!

Those are pretty cats! Are you going to keep them all, or try to find homes for some? Looks like they are healthy & happy!

Can you bottle a little of that goodness that John has for strays and send it my way?? My hubby could sure use some. LOL

We found a REALLY cute stray shi tzu last week. She was super dirty, stinky, had matted hair but OH SO sweet. I sent out a neighborhood email and kept her overnight. She played so well with our pug, liked the cat and the toddler. Perfect! My honey made me take her to the pound. *sob*

I think the cats are so cute! I'm a sucker for those dang things too!

Looks like you all got some new members of the family.
They are all interesting looking in their own special little ways.
Love the black nose on Splotch and Phantom. I wonder if the other cats laugh and call them names. (sorry Rudolf came to mind.)

Awww...what beautiful cats. I'm glad they've found a home with you. I think they obviously knew where the good home would be. :)

By the way, love the names you picked out for them!

Good for you for taking care of them!
Mama Cat looks JUST like the mama cat that we are fostering right now.
I can't believe she is still nursing those huge kittens! She's totally spoiling them.
