Not in limbo anymore

Late Tuesday evening I received a phone call from my friend, Ann whom also is my Union Rep. She told me all the drivers got their letters stating they will be getting their bus routes back for sure!! Confused, read here.

So Wednesday all 4 Supervisors, the Director of Transportation and several others had a meeting that lasted well over 5 hours to discuss how to handle all this mess.

Long story short. I was told to call my supervisor Thursday morning. So after homeroom was over I took a deep breath and called her. This is what she said.

Brad (director of Transportation) said you have 1 of 2 choices to make.

A) Choose an open route and bid on it (there are only regular routes open...I've been doing special needs for 18 years...so a regular route scares the crap outta me!)

B) Change from a regular driver to a sub driver and take over route 532 (special needs) for the remainder of the year. BUT, the start of 09/10 school year I will still be a sub driver and they can put me on ANY route they want...including regular 88 passengers. ugh!

So I had some questions...What routes were open that go to the middle school I work at and what towns do they go to? All but 1 had an elementary run....but I could swing them and still work at the school...the one that is middle school only happens to be the worse route in the district!!! We are talking fights and police escorts all. the. time. Will I still have my seniority if I switch to sub? YES! Keep all benefits? YES!

Hmmm...lots to think and pray about. So I called John and talked if over with him. We both prayed about it.

I decided to switch to a sub driver and take the special needs route 532. The only suck-y thing is it has an elementary so I have to leave the school early to do that run.

Upside though....I told John this was God's way of saying, "see things work out...trust me".....I get $10 a day more being a sub driver. HEY!!!!!!!!!

So I have peace about this whole situation now. Still not sure when the switch will happen. They are thinking in 2 weeks since SO many people are involved and payroll has so many changes to do, etc.

When I came into the house yesterday this was the first thing I saw.
John bought me my favorite Tulips, cordial cherries and Caramel wood wick candle to cheer me up! How sweet was that!!! It cheered me up instantly! He took me out to dinner at our favorite Mexican place as well.

So I'm looking at all that has happened this year with my job as a blessing. God knew it was all going to work out...I should have trusted from the beginning!! I'm happy to just have a job, period! So, now i get to keep my job at the school, & drive the bus as well!

So glad to hear this good report and how everything has worked out. It's hard to see God working when you are in the middle of situations, but that 20/20 vision after the fact helps you to see Him in the details.

What a sweet, supportive husband to bring you all those goodies.

Flowers, candy, candle, a sweet husband, dinner (and margaritas?).

Sounds like a grrrreat night.

Seriously, I'm so glad things have worked out. Don't you think God does things like that to test our trust?

Have a great Valentine's Day!
