Mirror mirror look away

Awhile back I posted about my weight and so many of you gave me words of encouragement and advice that I took to heart. If interested you can go here to read it. Anyway, a quick update.

I didn't do all that great during the holidays. Oh, the hor'derves were in abundance and the pastries, cakes and cookies were just screaming for me to eat them. I obliged and stuffed my mouth till I felt like I was going to bust! I don't even have a sweet tooth...maybe my taste buds are changing though because I couldn't get enough! Even chocolate...I usually only eat chocolate once a month...um, yeah....but lately I can't get enough of the creamy dark kind.

Two more parties to attend this year; tomorrow night we will go to my friend Michelle's for awhile then to my mothers as we do every year to bring in 2009. Yes, I will graze the food table at both parties and yes, I will have a few glasses of wine and I will enjoy every. single. bite. & sip!!!

Then when 2008 comes to an end at 11:59 pm and 2009 rings in at midnight my free eating will come to an end. John & I have made a pact to not eat out as much. I think that is where I have gained the majority of my weight 'cause I tend to order the most fattening thing on the menu!

Somehow I did manage to lose 3 1/2 pounds since the post last month and keep it off despite all the snacking. I only have 6 1/2 pounds to go to reach my goal. Those cute jeans are patiently waiting for my hips to fit back into them.

I have been working out hard on my Wii Fit which I absolutely LOVE!!! This break I've been hitting the gym with John. It has been real refreshing to work out hard like that and to spend time with him.

Till then I don't dare look in the mirror!

I too am going on a diet the beginning of the year. I quit smoking 6 1/2 months ago and gained 20 lbs during that time! Yikes! I know I just need to adjust my eating habits and eat a little less during each meal. Good luck with your diet too! (I have jeans waiting for me to fit into as well--not new ones, but ones I want to wear but have outgrown)

You can do it!

My little sis set her wedding date. July 3rd. I'm giving myself until June 3rd to lose 20. I gotta look good in that bridesmaid dress!

We should start a little support group!

Good luck!!! Sounds like you are doing well despite the snacking!! I have about 20 more pounds to lose and I am hoping to start running to train for a half marathon and that should help me! We'll see!! :)

I would LOVE to try out a Wii Fit! I want one so bad!!

How come you can over indulge during the holidays and STILL lose 3 1/2 pounds!?!?

Just think of what you'll accomplish when you stop doing that come 2009.

Damn you Keeper's Wife. Damn you.

Sorry. That's the jealousy talking.

I know what you mean about the holidays. I haven't even weighed myself for fear of what I'll see!! But, maybe it won't be that bad.

I totally need to get back to eating five small meals a day. I started that over a year ago and lost 55lbs. But, since I've had surgery and been home, I've only been eating like once or twice a day (minus the holiday gatherings!!).

I agree with Aubrey...we should start a little support group!

I just recently stumbled upon a great free weight loss website. It's www.sparkpeople.com. We could form our group under there since we're all from various places. This website has a lot of great tools. I plan on utilizing it at the beginning of the year.

I also need to get back to the gym. Luckily we now have a 24hr gym so I can go work out after I get off of work. (I work 2nd shift).

Anyway...whadya think?

3 1/2 pounds is great. I have lost 5 pounds since school has started back. It is better eating and I keep movin' in that kitchen. The eating out will really get you. Keep it up, you are doing great.

Why is it the most fattening thing on the menu is the tastiest thing on the menu? Losing 3 1/2 lbs is nothing to sneeze at though, you'll get there, I can feel it. One last indulgence tomorrow, make it count. ;-)

I probably would have gained:)

You've kept weight off during the holidays?! Good for you! You are going to do great after all of the goodies go away after the holidays, then!

I've taken this same journey over the past year! You can totally do it! I lost 30 pounds over 6 or 7 months (gained about 10 back over the holidays) and am back on track Jan 1... we can do it! My total goal is 100 pounds so I've got a long way to go... but I do still have 1 pair of jeans from college... patiently waiting...

Way to go with the wii fit and gym plans!

I'm hoping to get on top of the health/weight issue in my life in this next year as well. I just turned 19 yesterday, and with it came the realization I'm not going to be able to stay decently sized and eating whatever I want much longer at all... so I'm taking a fitness class is college and starting ballroom dancing lessons with my boyfriend!

You have a beautiful blog. I found you through SITS :-)

Happy New Year!

Good luck on achieving your weight loss goal. Weight loss has been something I've had to deal with my entire life so I know how hard it can be. I lost 20 pounds last year and plan on getting back on that weight loss train soon and hope to lose 20 more. So I'm right there with you!
