We did it....

Dear Friends~
Let me brag on hubby & myself for a moment. What do I have to brag about you ask?? Well, it has been 1 year since we quit smoking! Whoo Hoo!!!! We were really stupid and started smoking in 1993....when we started going to clubs....you know it was one of those things everybody did. At first we only smoked when we went out. Then we would share a pack and smoke every once in a while at the house. That turned into everyday. Eventually we were up to a pack a day and John was smoking Darium Blacks which were $5.00 a pack!!! Oh, we quit many, many, many times....heck we were professional quitters....we just couldn't stay quit! Meg & Tori would beg us to quit...they would say things to us like...you stink....thats nasty. Then the day before Tori turned 18 I decided I had had enough. I wanted to quit for good while she was still a "kid". So on October 15th, 2007 I put them down and never looked back. It was easier then I thought...all I had to do was put my mind to it. John was still smoking...he wasn't ready...and I never said anything to him about quitting. Then on the 30th he told me that he threw his cigarettes out the window and that he has joined me in being a non-smoker!!!
Here we both are one year later smoke-free!! Oh, we still crave a cigarette every now & then....we just don't give into it. So can I get a WHOO HOO!!!!!
Photo above was taken a few minutes ago with the self timer. This photo makes my ass and thigh look big!!! Really it's not that big!

Also....my good friend Beth has joined SITS & BATW!!! YAY! I'm excited about this. Go shower her with comment lovin.

Yay!! WOO HOO!!

That is soooo hard to really actually finally DO. Both Mike and I smoked for years (but not cause of a cool reason like we went to clubs).
Now that we have both stopped for years and years, (and to be honest I still miss it ocassionally:( )I think that it is such a gross habit. I hate the way you smell and your house and clothes smell.

Good Good JOB!!!

WooHoo. I quit eight years ago and love that my kids don't stink when they go out of the house. I used antidepressants to help me quit but it worked and I was off of them after six months. Best thing I ever did. I gained like 25 pounds but it was worth it! Good for you don't go back.

Woo Hoo!! Great job you guys!! I started smoking in 1991 and quit in 2001. I am hoping that after 7 years smoke free that it is out of my system. Now, if I could just get my husband to quit:-(

You are getting a BIG Woot-Woot from over here! That is so great!

My MIL used to smoke. My kids would give her such a hard time. My oldest son has asthma and learned about the effects of smoking in school. He would always tell her how bad it was and that she should stop. She finally did for them BUT even more so, for herself!

BTW...your hubby is such a cutie!! Sorry...I couldn't help myself! LOL

I can't remember how long ago I quit anymore but you'll find the longer you go the easier it gets. Congratulations! At this point I forget I ever smoked.

Just wanted to send you a hug and prayers that your girls are safe. One of Kyra's friends called in about the shootings last night... it is obviously a very difficult time for everyone there esp since 3 of them are still at large.
Anyways, keeping thoughts of your beautiful girls as safe and well uppermost in our hearts and minds today as well as prayers for our families students and the victims and their families.

YAY!!! That is so awesome that you both are quitters!!! You must feel so great, and I am sure your daughters are both so proud of you. It is a very difficult thing to do--not speaking from experience, but my husband is a quitter too.

You look great in the photo!!

Woohoo from over here!!! I was never a smoker but I was a major Mtn Dew addict so I know how hard it is to quit something like that.

BTW...you look beautiful in that photo -- no worries!

That's wonderful! I quit smoking the day I found out I was pregnant, and I can't believe how much I hate it now. The smell is disgusting. Congrats to you on quitting and sticking to it. That's something to be VERY proud of. I hope you feel healthier now, too!

Congratulations, My husband and I too are professional quitters! Hopefully we will soon become actual non-smoking folks....it's hard to tell my kids to never start while your standing there with a cigarrette in your mouth.

By the way, I love your blog!
