To sleep or not to sleep

As of right now my clock says 4 am. I have been over at SITS since 3:35 am. My alarm will be going off at 4:45 am for me to get up for the day. So WHY am I blogging instead of sleeping? Good question? I'd like to know why I can't sleep either! I got in the bed at 9:15 pm. I probably fell asleep by 9:30 knowing me...I knock out fast. The first time I woke up was 1:11. (I have a habit of looking at the DVR to see what time it is) Oh, 1:11 I thought to myself....I seem to wake up all the time when the clock displays triple numbers....I closed my eyes and then I started thinking....oh no...don't think....thinking = not falling back to sleep! I looked at clock again and it was 1:28. Stop thinking, Betty & go to sleep! I tried to relax and it must have worked....I think I fell back to sleep. Then the dog started barking...loud...I told him to stop it...that made it worse....he jumped off the bed and ran into the hallway. I laid there....thinking.....what is he doing. I looked at the clock...2:59 am. At 3:05 I got up to see what he was doing. He was waiting for me to get up and take him potty. After we walked outside for 5 minutes and he peed on everything he was finally ready to come in. I crawled back in bed, looked at the clock and thought, Geez, I should just get up...this has been a crazy night. But, I tried to fall back to sleep to no prevail....I couldn't stop "thinking". I finally made the decision to get up, make my coffee and go see who the featured blogger is on SITS. It was 3:25 am.

I had 2 glasses of wine last night. I drank them while we watched Amazing Race & Dexter. Could that be why?

I can't stop thinking of what to make for Tori's birthday dessert....she turns 19 on Thursday and we are having a dinner here at my house on Wednesday. Could that be why?

I ran out of yarn while making Becky's shawl wrap....and I keep reminding myself I have to go to yarn store after work to purchase more. Could that be why?

Who knows why?! All I know now is I'm going to be dragging some butt at work today!!! I feel great right now...I've had my first cup of coffee and I'm catching up on blogs. But around 11 or so I'm probably going to be SO exhausted!!

Oh yes, I should mention that this entire time my darling hubby has been sawing logs upstairs with the dog!!!

I hate it when that happens!! I suffer from insomnia and I finally saught help. It turns out my depression has a neat little partner...anxiety. So, I have been in treatment for that and I have been sleeping much better since then. The key was progressive relaxation and meditation. It's awesome!

I was in the same boat last night. Woke up after dreaming that a witch with glowing purple moons on her 4-ft. hat held me and my husband hostage in our house, trying to decide if she was going to kill before our wedding day. He's sweet, so she decided not to. But then she told us about some people who were going to kill him - a group of soldiers from a neighboring kingdom. Yeah, apparently my husband was a prince in this dream. Needless, I couldn't go back to sleep and just kept waiting for the purple glowing witch to walk into my bedroom. Or else my princess servants to bring my breakfast. Anyway, I like your blog. And your daughters are beautiful. But I'm guessing you get that A LOT.

I'm sorry you didn't sleep well last night. I have that problem on Friday's....that's Monday for me and it's usually pretty hard for me to fall asleep.

Cute new blog look!

I'm sorry you couldn't sleep. I hate it when I can't go back to sleep.

Tonight though, you should be getting some terrific sleep with as tired as you'll be!

You mentioned 3 of my fave things ... SITS (WAYYY too addicted), WINE (not 'too' addicted, thankfully) and Amazing Race! Wooohooo!

Time for a nap, eh? I could use one, too! But no, I'm visiting blogs! hahahaha

Since I started blogging a couple weeks ago, the minute I can't go right back to sleep I go right to my computer.

I tend to "think" of things when I wake up too. And I ALWAYS wake up at least a few times every night. I think my bladder is as big as a thimble.

You ever left a notepad and pen next to your bed so you can write down what your thinking to get it out of your head? I tend to keep thinking about stuff cause I'm afraid I'm gonna forget it. If I write it down I feel better.

I love Dexter. We had to watch that last night. It was a good one, I love his dry sense of humor.

I was just thinking of a desert I have to have that I haven't made forever. It is the cream cheese and strawberry desert with the pretzel crust. Salty and sweet. You either hate it or love it.

If you're chocolate people, I have a killer recipe for a very best ever chocolate cake I am willing to share. So rich and decadent--you'll need LOTS of milk to go with it!

Hope you get some sleep tonight!

I hope your day didn't drag too much come 11! Don't you hate nights like that?! UGH!

Hope you turn in early and have a nice, solid sleep tonight!

I can't wait to hear what you cook up for Tori's birthday dessert!!

After working these three twelve hour nights in a row, I feel your pain.

Come on over...we can be tired and cranky together.

Get some sleep tonight, and you'll be back on track.

Wow, I was exhausted just reading about it. I hope you got some rest eventually. My husband occasionally suffers from the insomnia, thankfully I am usually out like a light, then sleeping like a brick, unless my mommy radar kicks in.

I love your ramblings. And I love Amazing Race! Sometimes my brain won't shut off either. I know there's a shut off button somewhere, but I haven't found it yet...
