I'm a Hooker

Yes, you read the title right!! I am a HOOKER!! Ok, get your mind out of the gutter people...hooker a.k.a crocheter!!! You know someone who makes beautiful pieces of artwork out of yarn with a hooked needle!

I love making things with yarn. I love to make free form pieces. Making up my own patterns if I can't find one I like.

So back in December, Tori asked me if I would mind making her a cowl. A cowl is like a scarf without the "tails". So your neck stays warm and your coat isn't all bulky. Now, cowls are usually done in knitting....I hate to knit!! Most patterns I could find were for knitting. I searched for a cowl pattern in crochet and never found one I was happy with so I made up my own.

So yesterday I sat down and just started a chain and went from there.

I ended up with this one first. I would say this is my least favorite.
This is the second one I made. I really liked the way this one came out!! I love the green & blue.
I was on a roll whipping these suckers out in less than an hour!!! So I decided to make this 3rd one like the 2nd one just a little bigger. This yarn was very expensive...it has been sitting in the cabinet begging to be made into something for 4 years. This is my favorite!
LOVE love love the colors in this cowl!!!

So on my lunch break at school today I went on my bus and whipped up this last cowl.
I really like the way this one came out as well. I plan to make another like this but longer so the person wearing it can use it as a hat and a neck warmer.

All cowls are approved by mr. reeses!!

Oh the blue and the red are my favorites too! I think because they look more like scarves, and they are beautiful colors.

Jeez.

I do love them. I think the second one is my fave. And I'm sure your girls will love them.

Super cute! I really do love the blue & green one--but that is because they are my favorite colors....

not to say the one made of the very expensive yarn doesn't look pretty too!

Okay...I have to ask...you still used the solid coconut milk in your recipe? Did it just thin out and cook up like normal?

Betty, I have been meaning to ask you why you don't have an ETSY store???? Your daughters should have one also!

I love those, all of them.

I remember when my son was 9 and he said something about a hooker and when I asked him what one was, he replied "A woman who hooks something" So I guess he got your title down!

your title cracked me up... because my grandma in her 90's says all the time that she is a "hooker." And laughs... she is funny. Love them... they turned out so great...

Thanks for the great comment! As much as I hate it admit it (because I am a strong, tough woman!) he is the leader. Don't ever tell him I said so though!

Man, you sure were on a roll! I've never seen cowls before, though I've heard of cowl necks. I love the red and black one (Arkansas colors, baby!). You're way too talented!

They all are nice. I had never heard of a cowl until I read this post! So, do you put a button on it or does it just go over your head? I think the blue and red ones are my faves!

Ummm...I so wished we lived closer so you could show me your stitches and how you do them. Maybe you could post it on YouTube? huh, huh? :)

You are so talented! You should totally do a giveaway for some kind of crochet! So I can win it. :-)

Oh, THAT kind of hooker.

Those cowls are pretty cool though. I can't knit sh**.

I forgot to tell you too, I collect vintage pyrex too. Well, not collect, but I have a bunch by default of hand me downs. Think olive green. Big in the 70s.
